# Tone Indicators

Tone indicators can help you make your tone clear, especially when you're saying something ambiguous. In figure 1, there is an example of someone using the tone indicator for sarcasm, "/s".&#x20;

| /rh or /rt     | rhetorical question |
| /t             | teasing             |
| /ij            | inside joke         |
| /m             | metaphorically      |
| /li            | literally           |
| /hyp           | hyperbole           |
