What are the channels?

ASDirect has many channels to attend to different needs. They are divided into eleven categories: IMPORTANT, WELCOME, CHAT, LIFE, ASD, SUPPORT, CREATIVE, ACTIVITIES, VOICE, RPG and SERVER. You don’t need to know or use all of them, just find the ones you love and stick to them.

IMPORTANT

#announcements: here, new channels and partnerships are announced and explained. If you don’t like being pinged, you might want to mute this channel. You’ll still get the notification bell but no actual notification.

#events This is where we announce times and updates for regular activities

#rules-and-resources: Here you'll find all of our most important documents and can self-assign roles.

#weekly-wonderings: A channel for thoughtful discussions. Open once a week with a different topics to discuss each week

#unmask: do you need to release some frustration by spamming? This channel is just a place for releasing frustration and spamming, which is open once a week on Thursdays. Within this channel the servers rules still apply, but you can basically put any kind of spam that you desire.

LIFE

#adult-swim: our channel for 18+ users. Talk about sfw topics between adults.

#adult-swim-nsfw: our second channel for 18+ users. If it’s R-Rated or above, post it here. No pornography allowed.

#lgbtq-plus: for all the LGBT+ or questioning users to talk.

#teen: our channel for teen users

#themyscira: our women-only channel

ASD

#asd: discuss topics pertaining to being autistic

#interests: share what you’re interested in with the rest of us, and learn about all the cool things other people like too!

SUPPORT

#emotions: talk about the problems in your life. If you want to get helpful information, you can also check the ASDirect’s Support Toolbox found in the pins.

#gratitude: A channel to gratitude journal.

#health: To discuss anything related to your health. Chronic pain, dieting, exercise and etc.

#happy: share things that make you happy.

CREATIVE

#academics: this channel is for anyone of any education level--including elective self-education-- to post problems and share their struggles and advice.

#arts: Do you like art? Are you an artist? Are you confused about why a banana duct taped to a wall is called art? Post here

#entertainment: Post about any media, YouTube videos, TV, movies, video games, anime, whatever you're currently watching or into.

#gaming: To talk about games. Memes incentivized.

#memes: share what makes you laugh.

#music: Share the music that makes you happy, sad, dance or become a professional singer on the shower.

ACTIVITY

#activity: This channel is where our events will take place, i.e. being Wolfia, and drawpile. Discussions about D&D and the Book-Club event will be on this channel. This channel is also where you can discuss activities you like doing like gaming.

#voice: under this channel are the voice channels. You can use this channel for three things:

• If you want to participate in the voice chat, but you don’t want to talk, you can communicate through here and use text-to-speech; to learn how to do that, read Using Text to Speech under Making Discord Less Overwhelming

• If you’re a donor of the Hero tier or above, you can use this channel to control our music bot. To learn how to do that, check How to use the music bot under Helping ASDirect Grow.

• Post images or links you want to share with people you’re talking to on the voice chat.
